By Belize Live News Staff: Police intercepted a stolen Toyota Hilux just hours after armed thieves forcibly took the vehicle in an incident at Blackberry Estate, Burrell Boom, on Sunday night.
According to police reports, the victim, Jody Adulphus, 41, had just arrived home at around 9:30 p.m. when he was accosted by three armed men as he exited his vehicle. The assailants struck him with a firearm before stealing his wallet containing $200 and the keys to his white Toyota Hilux. They fled the scene in the stolen vehicle.
Police acted swiftly after receiving the alert, locating the stolen Hilux abandoned on a roadside in Burrell Boom. The three suspects fled on foot before officers could apprehend them. Authorities are now searching for the suspects and processing the vehicle for evidence.
ACP Hilberto Romero confirmed the incident, stating, “Police intercepted the vehicle in the area, and the occupants abandoned it before running off. We are seeking three suspects connected to this robbery.”
When asked about the confrontation, ACP Romero elaborated, “The victim was reversing his vehicle at home when he was attacked. Yes, this happened at his residence.”
Police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
