Edwin Gomez and Reina Tobar injured in Libertad gun attack

By Belize Live News Staff: A couple from Libertad Village sustained gunshot injuries during a violent incident at their home on Sunday night. Edwin Gomez, 31, and his common-law wife, Reina Tobar, 33, were targeted after Gomez stepped outside to investigate barking dogs.

Police reports indicate that Gomez was confronted and shot by an unknown assailant. Tobar, who remained inside, was also injured when the shooter fired additional rounds. Both victims are currently in stable condition at the hospital.

ACP Hilberto Romero stated, “We have one person in custody in connection with this shooting. However, the motive remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.”
