Police apprehend elderly man in possession of shotgun, ammunition

By Belize Live News Staff: A 60-year-old farmer from Burrell Boom Village is behind bars after being caught with an unlicensed shotgun and ammunition. The man, identified as Stephen Flowers, was intercepted by police on Tuesday, November 19th, while walking along the roadside carrying a 12-gauge shotgun and seven live rounds of ammunition.

Upon being stopped, Flowers reportedly fled into nearby bushes, but officers apprehended him shortly after, hiding just 15 feet off the road.

Flowers appeared in court unrepresented and was charged with two offenses: possession of a firearm and ammunition without a valid license. Under Belizean law, these are remandable offenses, and he has been detained until his next court appearance, scheduled for January 8th.
