By Belize Live News Staff: Police have made progress in the murder investigation of Julio Carrillo, whose body was discovered in a cane field earlier this week. The 48-year-old had suffered multiple stab wounds in what appeared to be a brutal attack.
On Thursday, police announced the arrest of two suspects: 47-year-old Iran Moguel and 24-year-old Emanuel Carrillo. Both men have been charged with murder. According to sources, Moguel is related to the deceased, as is Carrillo, who may also share familial ties.
The suspects had reportedly been staying at the victim’s home at one point, raising further questions about the circumstances of the crime. Police are continuing their investigation as the community reacts to this act of violence involving family members.
