By Belize Live News Staff: Police are investigating the sudden death of a fisherman who passed away at a guesthouse in Independence Village on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Authorities received a report around 9:35 a.m. of a deceased man in one of the rooms.
Upon arrival, officers found the nude body of the man lying face down beside a bed. Preliminary investigations revealed that the fisherman, a resident of Independence Village, had been in the room with a Honduran woman from Toledo District.
The woman informed police that after the two engaged in sexual intercourse, the man began experiencing chest pain and had difficulty breathing. She attempted to assist him by applying a wet towel to his neck and then sought help from the guesthouse staff. A bystander overheard and called emergency services, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police are continuing their investigations to determine the exact cause of death.
