Kimmy Boo' awaits trial over alleged $730 theft

By Belize Live News Staff: Kimane Garbutt, known as “Kimmy Boo,” faces serious legal troubles as she awaits trial for alleged theft. At just 20 years old, and expecting her first child, Garbutt has been remanded to the Central Prison in Hattieville after failing to meet her $1,500 bail.

The accusations stem from a November 5th incident in Belize City, where Garbutt is alleged to have taken items worth $730 from musician Robert Palacio. Their encounter reportedly began on Facebook, culminating in Garbutt spending the night at Palacio’s residence. Palacio claims she fled with the items after he left to arrange her boat fare and babysitter payment.

In court, Garbutt initially admitted guilt but retracted her plea, claiming an agreement existed for her to safeguard the items until Palacio fulfilled his financial commitments. The Magistrate has since entered a not-guilty plea, setting the stage for a trial.

Garbutt’s bail conditions include strict non-contact with the complainant and adherence to all court dates, with her next appearance scheduled for January 10, 2025. The outcome of this case could profoundly impact her life as she approaches motherhood.
