Airport stabbing lands victim in hospital, knife recovered

By Belize Live News Staff: Police have provided further details on a violent confrontation between two ramp agents at the Philip Goldson International Airport (PGIA). The altercation took place near the Domestic Arrivals area on Tuesday afternoon, leaving one man injured and another in police custody.

According to reports, 19-year-old Jeovanne McKenzie was picking up his bag when 27-year-old Darvin Sutherland approached him, brandishing a knife. Witnesses say Sutherland stabbed McKenzie on the right side of his face before fleeing the scene. Security personnel detained Sutherland, and police later recovered the weapon used in the attack.

McKenzie was rushed to the BDF Airport camp for emergency treatment and is now in stable condition. Airport officials have confirmed that both men will be permanently banned from working at the facility. Police are reviewing surveillance footage as part of their investigation, and charges against Sutherland are expected to follow shortly.
