Refused intimacy leads to violent confrontation in Hattieville, man chopped by brother-in-law

Musician stabbed at San Pedro Carnival – Police investigating

By Belize Live News Staff: On the evening of Sunday, November 3, Hattieville police responded to a report of a stabbing incident at 15 Miles Old Hattieville, near a residence in the area. Upon arrival, officers found Kenroy Lanza, a 24-year-old Belizean laborer, suffering from a severe neck wound. He was being assisted by his common-law wife, who was escorting him to the roadside for help.

According to preliminary investigations, the incident reportedly began when Lanza and his common-law partner returned home from Lord Bank earlier that afternoon. The couple, along with family and friends, socialized and drank throughout the evening. Around 8:50 p.m., before retiring for the night, Lanza allegedly requested intimate relations with his partner, which she declined. An argument ensued, and Lanza, reportedly upset, chased her into her mother’s house wielding a machete.

At that point, two of her brothers intervened, leading to a physical altercation during which Lanza sustained injuries. Bleeding from the neck, Lanza eventually approached his partner, who assisted him to the roadside, where police promptly transported him to meet a waiting ambulance on the George Price Highway.

The police investigation involved a thorough scene examination, including photographing a trail of blood within the yard. Authorities have identified two individuals as persons of interest in the case, and they are wanted for questioning. A medico-legal form was issued for Lanza, who remains in stable but critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH). His partner has been detained as part of the ongoing investigation.
