By Belize Live News Staff: Belizean boxer Eduardo Esquivel faced a tough challenge in the ring last Sunday, falling to Filipino boxing star Michael “Hot N Spicy” Dasmariñas in the first round of their World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International featherweight title fight.
Dasmariñas, a former world title challenger, proved too strong for Esquivel, utilizing his height and reach advantage to deliver powerful blows from the opening bell. A series of left hooks and straights to the head rocked Esquivel, and although he bravely got back to his feet after a knockdown, the referee stopped the fight at the two-minute mark to prevent further punishment.
Despite the loss, Esquivel showed courage and determination in facing a formidable opponent. This fight marked his fourth professional defeat, but the Belizean boxer has demonstrated his resilience throughout his career.
Dasmariñas, with the victory, extended his winning streak to six fights and captured the WBF International featherweight title. He now sets his sights on another world title opportunity.
The boxing world will be watching to see what’s next for both fighters. For Esquivel, this experience will undoubtedly provide valuable lessons as he continues his journey in the sport.
