By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans are being advised to prepare for increased rainfall and the potential for tropical storm development in the coming days. The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a forecast predicting a shift from sunny skies to mostly cloudy conditions with showers and isolated thunderstorms expected to impact various parts of the country.
While today’s forecast calls for sunny spells with cloudy periods and scattered showers, primarily in southern and coastal regions, the weather is expected to deteriorate tonight. Forecasters predict an increase in shower activity, particularly along the coast and offshore.
Looking ahead, Thursday promises mostly cloudy skies with a few showers, periods of rain, and isolated thunderstorms across the country. This unsettled pattern is anticipated to persist into Thursday night, concentrating along the coast and in the south.
Adding to the concern is the potential development of a tropical system in the Caribbean Sea. Although no tropical cyclone formation is expected in the North Atlantic, Caribbean Sea, or Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours, a broad area of low pressure is being monitored for potential development over the southwestern Caribbean Sea. This system has a medium chance of development over the next 7 days.
Belizeans are encouraged to stay informed about weather updates and take necessary precautions, including securing loose objects, clearing drainage areas, and having emergency kits prepared.
