Belize Defence Force assists flood-affected communities in northern Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: In response to recent heavy rainfall causing the Rio Hondo River to rise and flood the San Roman and San Antonio areas, the Belize Defence Force (BDF), in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), has mobilized to support affected communities. The rapid rise in water levels has made roads impassable for small vehicles, with floodwaters reaching approximately three feet in some areas.

Members of India Company, 2nd Infantry Battalion, have been actively assisting by transporting students, teachers, and public workers through the flooded zones. This operation, which began on October 24, will continue until water levels recede to a safe level. Transport services are available to residents both in the morning and evening, ensuring essential mobility and support for the community during this challenging time.

The BDF reaffirms its commitment to the Belizean people, demonstrating unity and resilience through its efforts to aid those affected by the floods.
