By Belize Live News Staff: Belmopan witnessed yet another audacious daylight robbery last Friday, occurring at a business establishment located right across from the police training academy. The robbery, which took place at the Belize Western Energy Limited (BWEL), happened at approximately 3:30 p.m., adding to the growing list of brazen heists in the city.
According to reports, a man arrived at the compound on a blue scooter, fully clad in black clothing and a helmet, disguising his identity. As soon as a BWEL employee came out to serve him, the man produced a firearm and forced the employee back inside the building.
Once inside, the robber pointed the gun at the employee, demanding the day’s earnings. Fearing for his life, the employee complied with the gunman’s demands, handing over more than two thousand dollars in cash. The suspect fled the scene immediately after receiving the money.
The robbery has raised concerns about the increasing boldness of criminals, especially considering the proximity of the crime to a police facility. Authorities are continuing their investigation, but so far, no arrests have been made.
