By Belize Live News Staff: H.E. Dr. Lin Chia-Lung, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), is set to lead a delegation to Belize from October 29 to 30, 2024. During his visit, Foreign Minister Lin will engage in high-level discussions with Belize’s Prime Minister, John Briceño, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Francis Fonseca, to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.
One of the key highlights of the visit will be Foreign Minister Lin’s trip to San Pedro, where he will visit the site of the proposed San Pedro General Hospital, a project generously funded by Taiwan. This major infrastructure initiative reflects Taiwan’s continued commitment to supporting Belize’s healthcare development.
This visit marks Foreign Minister Lin’s first trip to Belize since taking office in May, and it coincides with a significant milestone—2024 marks 35 years of diplomatic relations between Belize and the Republic of China (Taiwan). The longstanding partnership between the two countries continues to foster cooperation in areas such as healthcare, education, and economic development.
Foreign Minister Lin’s visit is expected to further solidify the strong diplomatic and economic ties that Belize and Taiwan have built over the past three decades.
