Belize Strengthens Regional Ties at Inaugural Guyana-Suriname International Business Conference

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize, through the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministry of Investment, is proudly represented at the inaugural Guyana-Suriname International Business Conference (IBC), taking place in Georgetown, Guyana. Ishmael Quiroz, Executive Director of BELTRAIDE, and Lincoln Blake, Director of the Investment Policy and Compliance Unit, are attending.

The three-day event serves as a vital platform for business matchmaking and investment exploration, with the potential to connect northern South America, CARICOM, and the broader Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region. It brings together key local and international stakeholders to exchange insights on business opportunities, showcase best practices, and forge strategic partnerships across several key sectors.

As the world’s fastest-growing economy, Guyana is undergoing rapid modernization and transformation, driven by significant investments in oil and gas, industrial infrastructure, manufacturing, agriculture, agro-processing, and ancillary services. The IBC provides a unique opportunity for Belize to strengthen its ties with the region and explore collaborative ventures that can enhance its own growth.

Of note, Belize previously hosted a delegation from Guyana’s public and private sectors during the Belize Investment Summit 2023, further laying the groundwork for deepening investment and trade relations between the two nations.

Special recognition is extended to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, with heartfelt appreciation to Belize’s High Commissioner to Guyana, H.E. Gale Miller-Garnett, for her leadership and continued efforts in advancing investment and trade relations between Belize and Guyana. These proactive measures reinforce the strong bonds shared between the two CARICOM nations, despite the geographical distance.
