By Belize Live News Staff: Starlink Belize, LLC, a subsidiary of the global satellite internet provider Starlink, has officially submitted an application to the Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for a telecommunications license. The application seeks a Class License to offer internet service across the entire territory of Belize.
In a public notice, the company informed that its request is pursuant to the Telecommunications (Licensing Classification, Authorisation, and Fee Structure) Regulations, 2020. This development could signal significant changes in the telecommunications landscape of Belize, offering widespread internet coverage, particularly in remote areas.
The PUC is now inviting interested parties to submit comments or objections to Starlink Belize’s application within two weeks of the publication. Feedback can be sent via email to telecom@puc.bz.
For those interested in viewing the application, it is available for public review at the offices of Starlink Belize, LLC, located at 56 Daly Street, Belize City, or at the PUC’s offices.
This move by Starlink could potentially revolutionize internet connectivity in Belize, providing enhanced options for consumers, businesses, and rural communities that currently have limited access to reliable internet services.
