By Belize Live News Staff: Delcia and Adilah Abdullah are facing charges after a confrontation with police officers who forcibly entered their home to retrieve surveillance footage related to a murder investigation. The police believed the footage from the Abdullah’s camera, which the family claimed was non-functional, could contain evidence from a recent murder on Reggae Street.
Despite being informed that the camera was not working, officers later returned, hopped the family’s fence, and broke down the door, capturing the entire incident on camera. Delcia Abdullah has been charged with obstructing a police officer, while her daughter Adilah faces aggravated assault charges. Both pleaded not guilty and were granted bail of $1,000 each.
After court, Delcia Abdullah expressed her frustration, claiming the officers acted inappropriately and even mentioned the possibility of suing the police department. The family maintains their innocence and claims the police overstepped their authority.
The case is set to return to court on December 16th.
