By Belize Live News Staff: Efrain Rejon’s attorney is battling to get his licensed .223 rifle returned after it was confiscated by police. The firearm was seized following an incident where Rejon was accused of pulling the gun on a road works crew along the Coastal Highway. Though the charges were dropped when the case went to court, police are still pushing to have Rejon’s gun license revoked.
Commissioner of Police Chester Williams stated that Rejon’s lawyer has requested the return of the firearm, but Williams has refused. “I have no legal authority to take away his other weapons unless the board revokes his license,” Williams noted, adding that any revocation would apply to all firearms in Rejon’s possession.
Williams said he is confident that if the board decides to revoke Rejon’s license, the matter will proceed in due course.
The case is ongoing, and further updates are expected.
