Fugitive Edwin Marin found dead after month on the run

By Belize Live News Staff: Corozal police have confirmed the discovery of the body of Edwin David Marin, a 24-year-old fugitive wanted in connection with a double homicide that occurred in September. Marin’s body was found late Monday night at Bacadia, an illegal point of entry approximately two and a half miles from Patchakan Village.

Police were alerted to the scene at 10:25 p.m. and discovered Marin lying face-up in a pool of blood with visible injuries to his head and face. No one else was found in the area. A Crime Scene Technician processed the scene, and Marin’s body was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital, where a doctor officially pronounced him dead at 1:14 a.m. on October 15. The body is now awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Marin had been on the run for over a month after being named the prime suspect in the September 9, 2024, murders of his ex-girlfriend Dayana Hill and her mother Natasha Clarke. Authorities allege that Marin fatally shot both women at their home in Corozal Town before fleeing the scene, triggering a police manhunt. His discovery brings an end to the search, but questions remain about the circumstances of his death.

Investigators are continuing their work to determine how Marin died and whether foul play was involved. No suspects have been identified so far, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
