By Belize Live News Staff: The National Hurricane Center (NHC) is keeping a close watch on a developing weather system, identified as AL94, located a few hundred miles west of the Cabo Verde Islands in the eastern tropical Atlantic. Recent observations show a decrease in showers and thunderstorms associated with the system.
While the current environment is not favorable for rapid development, forecasters expect conditions to improve as the system tracks westward to west-southwestward across the tropical Atlantic. By the middle to late part of the week, the system could encounter more favorable conditions, increasing the chance of gradual development.
The NHC has given the system a 10% chance of development within the next 48 hours and a 30% chance of development within the next 7 days. Although the disturbance is not currently a threat to Belize, residents are encouraged to stay updated as the system evolves.
