Born in Lemonal, Belize District, in 1915, Aunt Alice, as she is fondly called, has become a beacon of resilience, grace, and love, inspiring her family and community alike.
Alice relocated to the United States in the 1950s or 1960s, where she worked for a judge and his family until her well-earned retirement. In a 2022 interview, her niece, Dr. Angela Banner Joseph, credited Alice’s remarkable longevity to the love and joy she finds in her family. “Her secret is having a loving family around her and engaging in beautiful conversations with people,” Dr. Joseph shared. “Auntie attends church, loves family gatherings, and still prepares some of her meals. Her memory is fantastic, and she enjoys staying busy.”
Throughout her incredible life, Alice has witnessed the unfolding of two World Wars and profound societal changes. Despite the many challenges across generations, she has remained a symbol of strength, wisdom, and positivity.
