By Belize Live News Staff: Belize is set to experience a stormy day, with widespread rainfall and thunderstorms predicted to spread from coastal areas to inland regions by this evening or night. According to the Belize Met Service, a thunderstorm watch is now in effect, warning of the potential for heavy rainfall, intense lightning, and strong winds capable of causing localized damage. Residents are urged to remain cautious and monitor weather conditions closely.
Marine conditions remain moderate, with winds blowing from the north-northwest at 5 to 10 knots. Wave heights are expected to range between 1 and 4 feet. While the sea state is slight, sudden changes in weather could occur, so coastal residents and boaters are advised to remain alert for any worsening conditions.
Temperatures across the country will vary throughout the day. Coastal areas are expected to reach a high of 86°F, with lows of 76°F overnight. Inland temperatures will peak at 89°F before falling to 70°F at night, while the hills will remain cooler, ranging between 77°F and 65°F.
The Belize Met Service is urging all residents to take precautions, particularly during severe thunderstorms. The possibility of strong winds, heavy rain, and lightning makes it important to seek shelter when storms develop.
In its latest tropical weather outlook, the Belize Met Service has confirmed that no tropical cyclone formation is expected over the North Atlantic, the Caribbean Sea, or the Gulf of Mexico within the next 48 hours. However, unstable weather will continue to affect Belize into Monday.
For Monday and Monday night, cloudy conditions will persist, with light to moderate rain and isolated thunderstorms affecting many areas, especially in the south. By Monday night, rainfall is expected to ease, with only isolated showers forecast.
Tides today will reach high points at 5:59 AM and 7:21 PM, with low tides expected at 1:14 PM and 12:53 AM tomorrow. The sun rose at 5:45 AM and will set at 5:31 PM. The moon will rise today at 2:55 PM and set at 2:46 AM tomorrow.
The Belize Met Service continues to monitor the weather and urges residents to remain vigilant as unstable conditions persist through the weekend.
