By Belize Live News Staff: A truck carrying 1,500 gallons of fuel, believed to have been smuggled from Guatemala, was intercepted late Thursday night by customs authorities in Independence Village. The vehicle, which was loaded with barrels and tanks, is suspected of being part of an illegal cross-border fuel trade.

The driver, identified as a resident of Pueblo Viejo, Toledo, is currently in custody. According to officials, customs agents are awaiting information from the person believed to have orchestrated the fuel shipment.
