Police probe alleged theft after vehicle sale proceeds fail to reach owner

By Belize Live News Staff: A Belizean businesswoman has reported the alleged theft of funds related to the sale of her vehicle, according to police sources.

Tamara Minto, 50, told authorities that she purchased a 2016 black Nissan Rogue in August 2023, intending to sell it through Prestige Auto Sales with the assistance of her friend, Amado Badillo. The vehicle was sold in January 2024 for BZD $35,000, but Minto claims she has yet to receive the proceeds.

Minto reported that despite numerous attempts to collect the funds, Badillo has offered various excuses for the delay. A formal statement has been recorded, and police have indicated that an investigation into the matter is ongoing, with Badillo a person of interest.

No arrests have been made at this time.
