19-year-old Kristian Baeza dies in motorcycle collision

By Belize Live News Staff: Another tragic motorcycle accident has claimed the life of 19-year-old Kristian Baeza. The accident occurred at the junction of the Phillip Goldson Highway and San Roman, Rio Hondo Road in the Orange Walk District. Baeza was riding a motorcycle when it was struck from behind by a Ford Explorer driven by 53-year-old Gustavo Cardenas.

The impact of the collision threw Baeza from his motorcycle, and he succumbed to his injuries shortly after being taken to the hospital.

According to police reports, both vehicles were traveling in the same direction when the accident happened. Investigations are ongoing, and Cardenas is currently in police custody as authorities review the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.

Police stated that “the pickup hit the motorcycle from behind, causing the fatal injuries to Kristian Baeza.” Cardenas was asked to provide a blood sample but reportedly refused, and further procedures are underway.

Authorities noted that Cardenas had been involved in a separate traffic incident in 2003, where a collision with a van resulted in fatalities. At this time, no charges have been filed related to the 2024 accident.
