By Belize Live News Staff: A delegation of Counselors from the Board of Executive Directors of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) is conducting an official visit to Belize from September 30 to October 4, 2024. The visit is focused on gaining first-hand insights into several IDB Group-funded projects across the country. Accompanied by representatives from the Government of Belize and local authorities, the delegation will tour key sites that highlight the country’s diverse project portfolio.
Among the notable stops on the itinerary are the Itz’at Steam Academy, part of the Education Quality Improvement Program II, and the Belize City Pump Station, a component of the Climate Vulnerability Reduction Program. The delegation will also visit San Mateo in San Pedro to review progress on the Sustainable and Inclusive Urban Development Program, as well as the Southern Regional Hospital and Palm Center for Long-term Care, which are part of the initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and access in Belize’s health system.
Additional site visits include a tour of Marie Sharp’s Fine Foods Limited, supported by IDB Invest, and the Roaring Creek Bridge to San Ignacio, a critical part of the George Price Highway Rehabilitation Project. The IDB delegation will engage with stakeholders to assess progress and challenges in these projects, further strengthening collaboration between the IDB and the Belizean government.
The visit exemplifies the shared commitment to ensuring that the investments made in these projects are impactful and beneficial for the people of Belize.
