Belize braces for possible tropical depression as fair weather continues

Relatively moist and unstable conditions continue across Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect another day of generally fair weather today, September 26, 2024, with sunny skies and only isolated showers. However, the National Meteorological Service forecasts a shift in the weather pattern tonight, with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, particularly over the south and along some coastal areas.

The marine forecast predicts light chop to choppy sea conditions with waves reaching 2-5 feet. Winds will be blowing from the west-southwest at 10-15 knots. Temperatures will remain warm, reaching a high of 95°F inland and a low of 68°F in the hills.

In the Atlantic basin, Tropical Storm Isaac is moving east and away from Bermuda, while Hurricane Helene poses a threat to Florida as it moves north-northeast. Additionally, a broad area of low pressure west of the Cabo Verde Islands has a high chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours.

Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday and Friday night are expected to bring cloudy spells and an increase in showers and isolated thunderstorms. Residents are advised to stay updated on the latest weather forecasts and take necessary precautions as the weather patterns shift.
