UDP warns of unauthorized convention organized by expelled members

UDP condemns "Lies" from Alliance for Democracy Party

By Belize Live News Staff: The United Democratic Party (UDP) has issued a public warning regarding a fraudulent event being organized by three expelled former members: Hon. Patrick Faber, Hon. Tracy Panton, and John Saldivar. The UDP has made it clear that the event, titled “National Convention,” scheduled for October 20, 2024, is not sanctioned by the party.

In a notice released on September 15, 2024, UDP Chairman Michael Peyrefitte informed all party delegates and supporters that the individuals involved no longer hold any position or authority within the party. Peyrefitte emphasized that any event organized by these individuals is illegitimate and lacks any legal standing within the UDP.

The statement reaffirmed the UDP’s commitment to upholding its constitution and party rules, noting that all official activities will continue to be conducted by the recognized leadership. The party has urged members to disregard the October 20th event and remain aligned with the legitimate processes of the UDP.

The leadership further assured members that the UDP will continue to operate with integrity and adhere to democratic principles as they prepare for future elections.

The situation remains under observation as the party navigates this internal challenge.
