By Belize Live News Staff: The Belize Ministry of National Defence and Border Security has announced the deployment of two senior officers from the Belize Defence Force (BDF) to Haiti. This deployment comes in response to United Nations Security Council Resolution 2699, which seeks to restore security in Haiti and create the necessary conditions for free and fair elections.
The BDF officers will join forces with the Jamaican Defence Force (JDF) as part of a multinational task force focused on stabilizing Haiti. Their mission begins in Jamaica, where they will integrate with the Headquarters Staff to undertake crucial operational planning before moving on to Haiti. These collaborative efforts are aimed at supporting Haiti in its recovery from ongoing social and political challenges.
The Ministry emphasized that this deployment highlights Belize’s unwavering commitment to international security and regional stability. Belize continues to stand alongside its CARICOM partners and other allies in efforts to promote peace and security across the region.
