By Belize Live News Staff: BELTRAIDE, Belize’s investment and trade promotion agency, is on a mission to enhance the country’s investment climate. Three senior staff members are currently in Costa Rica on a two-day knowledge exchange mission, focused on learning about the Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency’s (PROCOMER) Single Investment Window (SIW) system.
This mission is part of a larger Trade and Investment Facilitation Project, funded by the Inter-American Development Bank and implemented by BELTRAIDE. The project aims to promote Belize’s foreign direct investment and trade performance by simplifying, standardizing, and automating key investment and trade procedures.The team from BELTRAIDE aims to gather insights from PROCOMER’s successful SIW system, with the goal of replicating a similar system in Belize. The Costa Rican SIW is known for its efficiency in centralizing and speeding up investment procedures.
By studying PROCOMER’s model, BELTRAIDE hopes to create a more investor-friendly environment in Belize, reducing application processing times and offering a more integrated platform for investors.
This initiative reflects BELTRAIDE’s commitment to adopting international best practices and adapting them to Belize’s specific needs. The agency remains dedicated to fostering an environment that attracts investment, stimulates economic growth, and creates opportunities for all Belizeans.
