Lawrence Ellis endorsed as PUP candidate for Mesopotamia Division in Belize City

By  Belize Live News Staff: The People’s United Party (PUP) has endorsed businessman Lawrence Ellis as their candidate for the Mesopotamia division in Belize City, a seat currently held by Shyne Barrow, the leader of the opposition United Democratic Party (UDP).

In a Facebook post, PUP Leader and Prime Minister John Briceño urged the residents of Mesopotamia to embrace a shift in leadership, highlighting the necessity for “new energy and representation” within the constituency. Briceño expressed his confidence in Ellis’s ability to bring about the change needed in the area.

“Mesop requires new energy, fresh representation, and a leader who can revitalize this key area of our commercial capital. It’s time to end 40 years of UDP neglect in Mesop,” the Prime Minister remarked.

Ellis’s candidacy signals a strategic push by the PUP to challenge the UDP’s long-standing control over the division, setting the stage for a competitive electoral battle.
