By Belize Live News Staff: Sacred Heart College will suspend classes on Monday, August 26th, 2024, to pay tribute to Christopher Aird, the institution’s first president and a highly respected figure in Belizean education. Faculty and staff will attend his funeral, with classes resuming on Tuesday.
Aird’s influence extended far beyond Sacred Heart. He also served as the Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education, where he spearheaded groundbreaking initiatives to improve the quality and accessibility of education for all Belizean students. His leadership was instrumental in the implementation of programs such as the ICT in Education program, the Education Quality Improvement Program (EQIP), and education finance reforms.
At Sacred Heart College, Aird fostered an environment where academic excellence and personal growth went hand-in-hand, nurturing countless students to reach their full potential. His vision and unwavering commitment helped shape the college into a respected institution known for its dedication to both intellectual and personal development.
