By Belize Live News Staff: Kenroy Cal, the chairman of Red Bank village, has been formally arrested and charged with rape, authorities said on Monday.
A 21-year-old woman from Independence Village reported that Cal took her into a dark building early Sunday morning and sexually assaulted her while a friend stood guard. She managed to escape with help, and a medical exam revealed bruises on her body.
Cal’s alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Ralph Acal, has been charged with abetment to commit rape.
Police are urging anyone with further information to come forward.
