By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service of Belize has issued a general forecast indicating the presence of relatively moist and unstable conditions across the country. This weather pattern is attributed to an approaching tropical wave, which is expected to bring an increase in shower and thunderstorm activity.
Residents can expect a mix of sun and clouds today, with isolated showers and thunderstorms possible. Inland areas may experience a few more showers this afternoon. As the night progresses, the southern regions and coastal areas will likely see an increase in activity, gradually spreading to most parts of the country.
Mariners should anticipate easterly to northeasterly winds blowing at 5 to 15 knots, resulting in light chop and waves reaching 2 to 4 feet.
Temperatures will vary across the country. Coastal areas will experience highs near 90°F (32°C) and lows around 83°F (28°C). Inland regions can expect hotter conditions, with highs reaching 95°F (35°C) and lows near 74°F (23°C). The hills will be slightly cooler, with highs around 82°F (28°C) and lows near 68°F (20°C).
Hurricane Ernesto, currently located about 340 miles south-southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, is moving north-northeast at 21 mph with maximum sustained winds of 85 mph.
Tuesday morning is expected to be mostly cloudy with showers, a few thunderstorms, and periods of rain affecting most areas. These conditions are expected to decrease throughout the day. Tuesday night will see isolated showers or thunderstorms, with a few more affecting the south.
High tides are expected at 9:18 AM and 10:23 PM today, with a low tide at 4:26 PM. Sunrise was at 5:36 AM and sunset will be at 6:15 PM. The moon will rise at 6:32 PM today and set at 6:25 AM tomorrow.
