By Belize Live News Staff: Few things on the Belizean calendar have lasted as long as the Queen of the Bay Pageant.
This year marks the 81st edition, and preparations are already underway.
The National Celebrations Commission made a contribution to the Queen of the Bay Committee today, presented by Director Kim Vasquez on behalf of Chairman Hon. Francis Fonseca and the Commission.
The pageant has been a fixture of September Celebrations for generations, and for many Belizeans it is inseparable from the season itself. Contestants come from across the districts, and the crowning is one of the moments that signals the celebrations are properly underway.
Eighty one years means grandmothers who watched it, mothers who competed in it, and daughters preparing for it now.
