By Belize Live News Staff: The National Meteorological Service has forecast scattered showers and thunderstorms across Belize today. The morning will likely start with cloudy skies and a few showers, especially along the coast and in the south. These showers are expected to spread to most areas by the afternoon, before tapering off into isolated showers by tonight.
Mariners should exercise caution due to the potential for gusty winds and rough seas near heavy showers and thunderstorms. Winds are predicted to be easterly at 5-15 knots, with light chop and waves reaching 2-4 feet.
Coastal temperatures will range from a comfortable 82°F (28°C) to 88°F (31°C). Inland areas will be warmer, reaching highs of 93°F (34°C) and lows of 74°F (24°C). The hills will offer cooler respite with temperatures between 68°F (20°C) and 82°F (28°C).
While Tropical Storm Ernesto, currently located about 690 miles south of Halifax, Nova Scotia, poses no immediate threat to Belize, residents are encouraged to stay informed about its progress. The storm is moving north-northeast at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.
Monday is expected to be partly cloudy with isolated showers or thunderstorms. The southern and coastal areas might experience a few more showers by Monday night.
