Domestic violence charges dropped against police officer

By Belize Live News Staff: A police officer who was previously remanded for allegedly threatening his wife with a firearm during a domestic dispute has walked free after the charges against him were dropped.

Corporal Myron Williams, 39, had been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon following the incident. He was subsequently granted bail by the High Court.

On Friday, Williams’ wife appeared in court and withdrew her request for court action against her husband. Prosecutor Corporal Hubert Ayala questioned the complainant to ensure she was not coerced into dropping the charges, and she confirmed she was acting of her own free will.
