Cyclist killed in hit-and-run in Corozal

By Belize Live News Staff: A 32-year-old man, Aurelio Perez, lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Thursday night on the Philip Goldson Highway, just outside Corozal Town.

The incident occurred between miles 81 and 82 at the entrance of Corozal Town just after 9:00 p.m. Perez was riding his beach cruiser bicycle when he was struck from behind by an unknown vehicle. The impact threw Perez from his bicycle, causing fatal injuries. He was rushed to the Corozal Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are investigating the incident and are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the driver responsible. As of Friday afternoon, no suspects have been detained.
