Motorcyclist killed in Belize City bus collision

By Belize Live News Staff: Michael McKenzie, 36, has died following a traffic accident in Belize City. McKenzie was reportedly on his motorcycle attempting to cross the intersection of King Street and East Canal when he was struck by a passenger bus.

The bus driver, who had the right of way, reported not seeing McKenzie attempting to cross. Family members who arrived at the scene say McKenzie was conscious and responsive, even speaking to them. Believing his injuries were minor, McKenzie was taken to the hospital for a check-up, where he died from internal bleeding shortly after.

The bus driver has been served with a notice of intended prosecution as the investigation continues.
