By Belize Live News Staff: Venancio Coy Jr., a soldier with the Belize Defence Force, died on Sunday, nine days after being struck by a motorcycle in southern Belize. The incident occurred near Roots Rock Night Club in Cattle Landing village on the night of July 12th.
Coy was initially taken to Punta Gorda Hospital before being airlifted to Belize City for critical care. Despite medical efforts, he passed away at 5:00 pm on Sunday.
Coy’s family expressed their dismay over the lack of communication from authorities, stating they had not received any updates regarding the accident or investigation until informed of his death by medical personnel.
The Belize Defence Force and the community are mourning the loss of Coy, and an investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
