Wet weekend ahead as showers and thunderstorms persist

Cloudy skies and periods of rain expected across Belize

By Belize Live News Staff: Belizeans can expect a soggy start to their weekend as the National Meteorological Service (NMS) predicts continued showers and thunderstorms across the country.

Moist and unstable conditions remain entrenched, leading to mostly cloudy skies and intermittent downpours throughout Saturday. Residents in the south and coastal areas should be particularly prepared for wet weather, with heavier showers and thunderstorms anticipated.

Temperatures will vary across the country, reaching highs of 87°F (31°C) along the coast and 92°F (33°C) inland. The humidity will contribute to a muggy feel, especially in low-lying areas.

Good news for those worried about tropical storms: the NMS has confirmed that no cyclone formation is expected in the next 48 hours. However, the outlook for Sunday and Sunday night remains cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the south and along the coast.

Drivers and pedestrians are urged to exercise caution on the roads, as wet conditions may cause slippery surfaces and reduced visibility. Mariners should also be aware of choppy sea conditions, with waves reaching up to 6 feet.
