By Belize Live News Staff: The Ministry of Health & Wellness announced yesterday that it has received a donation of 50,000 doses of the Pediatric Pneumococcal Vaccine (PCV) from the Government of Brazil. The PCV vaccine is a crucial tool in preventing pneumonia, meningitis, and other serious complications caused by pneumococcal disease in children under five years old.
Vaccinated children are less likely to require hospitalization and experience fewer disruptions to their growth and development due to pneumococcal infections. The Ministry of Health & Wellness expressed its gratitude to the Government and Ambassador of Brazil for this generous donation, which will significantly contribute to the well-being of children in Belize.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to have their children under five vaccinated with the PCV vaccine, which is available at all public health facilities and mobile clinics.
