By Belize Live News Staff: A woman was killed and numerous others were injured, including eight children, in a devastating road traffic accident in Elridgeville, Toledo District. The incident occurred on the highway just past the Agriculture Department and involved a white F350 pickup truck and a Toyota pickup truck.
Two of the eight children involved were found unconscious at the scene, all sustaining serious injuries. Former Mayor Ashton McKenzie, who was among the first responders, transported the children to the hospital with the guidance of their mother and a nurse present at the accident. McKenzie noted that upon his arrival at the hospital, emergency services were just departing for the scene.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the accident and will release further details as they become available.
