By Belize Live News Staff: A devastating collision on the Thomas Vincent Ramos Highway has left three individuals dead and several others injured, plunging a family into mourning. The incident occurred on Friday evening, July 12th, around 7:00 PM, between the villages of Eldridgeville and Jacintoville.
Two pickup trucks, a Ford F350 and a Toyota, were involved in the fatal crash. The Toyota, driven by 51-year-old Jose Tush from Aguacate Village, was carrying multiple passengers, including his wife, children, and other family members.
Initial reports from authorities suggest that the Toyota attempted to overtake a motorcycle, leading to a head-on collision with the oncoming Ford F350. The impact of the crash tragically resulted in the deaths of Jose Tush, his 17-year-old daughter Renieta Tush, and his 5-year-old son Michael Tush.
Several other passengers in the Toyota sustained injuries of varying degrees and were rushed to Punta Gorda Hospital for treatment. Their conditions remain unknown at this time.
The driver of the Ford F350, 43-year-old Emilio Lizama from El Progresso Village, was also involved in the accident. He was subjected to a urine test and served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution, indicating potential legal consequences for his involvement in the crash.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to the morgue, where post-mortem examinations will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, and further details are expected to be released as the investigation progresses.
