San Ignacio Police Department receive boost in crime fight with vehicle donation

By Belize Live News Staff: The San Ignacio Police Department received a timely donation of two vehicles and a motorcycle on Thursday, aimed at enhancing their efforts to combat a recent spike in crime in the popular tourist destination.

The donation, from the Belize Tourism Board and the Ministry of Tourism and Diaspora Relations, comes as the department grapples with increased criminal activity in the twin towns of San Ignacio and Santa Elena.

The tourism industry is a crucial pillar of Belize’s economy, and ensuring the safety and security of visitors is a top priority for the government.

“We are committed to supporting the police in their efforts to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for both residents and tourists,” said a representative from the Ministry of Tourism.

The donated vehicles will be immediately put into service, enhancing patrols and investigations in the area.
