Caye Caulker NEMO Coordinator urges voluntary evacuation ahead of hurricane

By Belize Live News Staff: In response to the approaching hurricane, the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) Coordinator for Caye Caulker is strongly advising residents to consider voluntary evacuation as the safest course of action. The island’s limited shelter capacity is a key factor in this recommendation.

Residents who have the option to stay with family or friends in secure homes off the island are encouraged to do so. For those who are unable to evacuate, shelters on Caye Caulker will open on Wednesday, but space will be limited.

NEMO is urging all residents to prioritize their safety and prepare for the potential impact of the hurricane.
