Gang war escalates after attack on Doris Grant and Austin Underwood

By Belize Live News Staff: A recent shooting targeting a vehicle linked to a city gang has heightened concerns of escalating gang warfare following the attack on Doris Grant and Austin Underwood last Sunday.

On Thursday morning around 10:00, 25-year-old Andrea Avaloy narrowly escaped injury when gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on the car she had just exited on Estelle Street in the Complex Area of Lake Independence. Avaloy, who had recently left the Magistrate’s Court, was waiting at a nearby store when the shooting occurred. The car, believed to be linked to a local gang, sustained multiple bullet holes, but no one was inside at the time.

Police believe this incident is directly related to the ongoing feud between four city gangs, which intensified following the shooting of Grant and Underwood.

Authorities have responded by increasing patrols in the affected areas in an effort to contain the escalating violence.
