Excessive rainfall warning continues for Belize, flooding risk high

By Belize Live News Staff: Belize’s National Meteorological Service issued an excessive rainfall warning on Friday, particularly for the northern and central regions, as moist and unstable conditions persist, raising concerns of potential flooding.

Showers, thunderstorms, and periods of rain are expected throughout the morning, mainly in the north and central areas, gradually decreasing later in the day and tonight. Temperatures along the coast are expected to reach a high of 88°F (31°C) and a low of 81°F (27°C), while inland areas will experience highs of 93°F (34°C) and lows of 74°F (23°C).

The National Meteorological Service of Belize has urged residents in the affected areas to monitor the situation closely and contact the Hydrology Unit at 822-0667 for updates on flooding risks.

Additionally, a small craft warning has been issued for offshore waters due to rough seas and strong gusty winds, particularly in easterly swells. Mariners are advised to seek safe harbor until conditions improve.

The forecast for Saturday and Saturday night predicts a few showers and isolated thunderstorms, indicating that the wet weather pattern is likely to continue.
