By Belize Live News Staff: In the early hours of Sunday morning, a shooting incident on Fairweather Street in Belize City left two individuals injured and hospitalized.
At approximately 3:10 AM, a 31-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were returning home from an event. As their vehicle crossed the bridge on Fairweather Street, an unknown assailant emerged from an alley connecting Fairweather and West Collet Canal and fired multiple shots in their direction.
Both individuals sustained gunshot wounds and their vehicle was damaged in the attack. They managed to drive themselves to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for medical treatment. Fortunately, their injuries are not life-threatening and they are currently in stable condition.
The Crimes Investigation Branch Precinct No. 1 responded to the incident and visited the scene at the corner of Fairweather and South Creek. Several expended shells were recovered as evidence.
Police are actively investigating the shooting and are appealing to the public for any information that may lead to the identification and apprehension of the perpetrator(s).
