Man injured in drive-by shooting in Belize City

By Belize Live News Staff: In the late hours of Saturday night, a drive-by shooting on King Street left one man injured and hospitalized.

At approximately 10:24 PM, a 40-year-old man was socializing with a group of people under a shed at the corner of King Street and East Collet Canal. A dark blue SUV approached from the direction of King Street, and an occupant of the vehicle fired multiple shots towards the group.

The man was struck several times and sustained gunshot wounds to his body. The SUV fled the scene, heading towards West Collet Canal and Gibnut Street.

Bystanders rushed to the victim’s aid and he was quickly transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) for treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition.

The Crime Investigation Branch responded to the scene and conducted a thorough investigation. A forensic expert processed the area and recovered several expended shells and slugs. Video footage from nearby surveillance cameras provided valuable information and is being reviewed by authorities.

Police are actively investigating the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward. They believe the attack was targeted, but the motive remains unclear.
