By Belize Live News Staff: The Office of the Special Envoy for the Development of Families and Children has issued a pressing call to action to tackle the pervasive issue of bullying in Belize. In a press release on Friday, the office expressed deep concern over the impact of bullying on individuals across various sectors of society, including schools, workplaces, homes, and communities.
“Bullying, in all its forms, undermines the very fabric of our society,” the statement said, highlighting the extensive emotional and psychological harm caused by such behavior. The Special Envoy emphasized that Belize must take a firm stand against bullying, deeming it unacceptable for anyone to bully another or for bystanders to allow it to happen.
The office noted that bullying often manifests in physical, verbal, social, or cyber forms, with far-reaching consequences that can last a lifetime. Addressing the issue head-on is crucial, starting with educational institutions and extending to all societal corners.
The Special Envoy urged all Belizeans to unite in fostering a culture of respect, empathy, and kindness, and to actively oppose bullying. The call to action underscored the need for safe environments in schools where students and teachers can thrive without fear of intimidation or harassment. Similarly, it called for workplaces, homes, and communities to promote respect, dignity, and the well-being of others.
“Let us all work together to eradicate bullying and build a more compassionate and inclusive Belize, where every individual can feel safe and valued,” the release concluded, stressing that the time for change is now and it must begin with each individual.
